Earlier this year, while reading the “Tension” issue of Ply magazine, a thought struck me.
Over a decade had passed since I designed the Spanish Peacock Plying Stand. It had worked great all these years, and I use mine with every spindle-spun yarn that I create.
But what if… what if the plying stand could work even better?
What if, in this situation, being a little tense could actually improve the situation?
Guess what? It ABSOLUTELY does. And here’s my new video demonstrating how to use readily available items to rig a tensioning system of your very own!
This video not only shows you how (and why) to add tension to the spindles in the stand, but it also:
- Identifies other uses for the stand besides plying from hand spindles
- Demonstrates what hand spindles work in the plying stand
- Explains how and why to use binder clips with the plying stand
- Shows how to use the plying stand with an eSpinner bobbin
What’s your favorite hack for the plying stand? Let me know in the comments below!
