Last night, I completed my second WIP for Tour de Fleece.

Yes, if you’ve been counting, you did the math right.

It took me seven days (last Friday through yesterday, which was a Thursday) to spin 0.5 ounces of punis.

I’m not proud.

I even spun on July 5th, which was an official “rest” day for the Tour.

Here is where the WIP started – daintily wrapped around a miniature Turkish spindle by Subterranean Woodwork.

If you’re curious about my turtle wrapping, I followed the instructions in this video for a “fat turtle”. It requires wrapping the underside of the Turkish spindle as well. Here’s how the underside looks.

Pretty turtles take forever though.

Oh wait, regular spinning appears to take forever too!

I picked a Spanish Peacock Tibetan spindle with a purpleheart shaft to match the fiber. Here is how it looked at the end of day 7:

And this is day 11. I don’t see any difference, do you?

Literally the only way I could tell I made progress each day? There were fewer punis remaining in the pile!

Here is a photo of the original part of the WIP (still on the Turk) and the new part (on the Tibetan). I think these two ended up more similar in weight / consistency in the singles than in my previously finished TdF 2021 WIP.

Ten days left in this Tour de Fleece – including one rest day. Hopefully I make progress faster on WIP #3!
