Wrapping a Fancy Spindle Cop

If you’ve been following my blog, you know I wrap my singles yarn on my supported spindles in a very simple layered fashion. Recently, my friend Robbyn inspired me to put a little more time (OK, a LOT more time) and care into how I wrap, transforming a beautiful tool and functional fiber into a miniature work of art.

Two supported spindles in orange, blue, turquoise and purple both have fancily wrapped cops of fiber in the same colors
The time and effort to wrap a fancy spindle cop results in a miniature work of art!

In this video, Robbyn (on Instagram as @spin_in_progress) joins me to demonstrate how she wraps a fancy cop on a supported spindle. The same technique could be used for a drop spindle or a bottom whorl.

Side note: the “Thirty in Thirty” challenge referenced in this video was a project on the Supported Spindles Anonymous Facebook Group to spin 30 minutes every day for 30 days, starting January 1, 2021. This was when we all realized Robbyn’s fancy-cop-wrapping super power!
