A collection of simple knitting patterns to showcase your handspun yarn.
One Row Handspun Scarf – Simple, quick knit. Beautifully shows off color transitions in yarn. Works with a wide variety of yardages. I knit this pattern using fractal handspun in 2021.
One Stitch Lace Scarf – All the benefits of the One Row Handspun Scarf, with the bonus of a lacy look.
Reeds and Rushes Cowl – An excellent choice for a low-yardage yarn.
Simple Yet Effective Cowl – Another simple, striaght-forward cowl to knit.
Quaker Yarn Stretcher – available either as a triangle or a rectangle. I have only tried the triangle (“boomerang”) version, and found it offers a great way to knit with handspun yarn of uncertain length. (Am I the only one who consistently fails to measure finished yardage?) I still need to write the blog post about the gradient fiber I spun for this pattern, but in the meantime here is a photo.

If you find yourself with a plethora of small skeins from samples, fiber Advents, or leftovers from other projects, here is a selection of scrap busting patterns to choose from. The links are organized roughly in order of least to most yarn required for the pattern.
