Here are my results from Tour de Fleece 2019, week 2. (If you missed week one and want to catch up, you can read about it here.)
Day 8 – Spin a thick and thin yarn. I continued my “thick” spinning project. Hey, I figured it counted because whenever I stopped paying attention and fell back into my normal spinning rhythm, the singles went back to being thin! Spinning thick requires too much concentration for it to be a regular habit.

Day 9 – Spin long draw. I tried spinning long draw for the “thick” project (I think I’m going to call it Thick Velvet) but that was a terrible idea. Long draw for me always ends up thin, which is exactly what I did not want for this yarn! I gave up on the long draw and just kept spinning.

Day 10 – Spin something easy. I decided to spin what I should have done yesterday – straight superfine merino. This fiber, with my pu yok supported spindle, just begs to be drafted long draw.

7/16 was a rest day. I tried yet again to record my YouTube video on plying with a Spanish Peacock Supported Spindle Plying Stand. This time it was in focus, but still needs a lot of editing before I can post the darn thing.
Day 11 – Spin something easy. Well, it wasn’t “easy” but I went back to my Peach Gummies project because I want to finish that eventually!

Day 12 – Spin from bag #2. Since I didn’t have the kit that included “bag #2”, I tried to finish the plying project I started for the as-yet-unedited YouTube video. I ran out of day before I ran out of singles!

Day 13 – Time Trial, 15 minute sprint. Since I was so closed to completing my plying project, I focused on that first.

Here’s a closeup of the plied yarn. I am unhappy with how it turned out. A lot of folks are fans of the barberpoling effect, but to me, the colors got muddy. I need to put more thought and planning into my fiber projects, I guess!

I also participated in time trial this go around. I figured out I could mark my beginning spot in a current project using a stitch marker, so I picked the merino on the pu yok and spun like crazy for 15 minutes.

This pu yok has a graceful, slow spin which allowed me to focus on drafting out the fiber. I was able to spin just over 17 yards in 15 minutes! Way slower than the folks on the team using wheels, of course, but still pretty respectable. … I guess. I have never tried measuring my spinning before!
